We can offer a wine pairing suggestion with each dish – please ask and we’ll gladly match one of our 50 wines to a dish of your choice, providing what we believe to be the ultimate experience.

Gareth, who has been part of the team for a quarter of a century, is an award-winning chef. He has traveled the world as part of the team for Wales’ Culinary Association. From the freshest of lobster dishes to heart-warming Sunday roasts, the freshest of salads and delicate sweet treats, his food is simply the best – indeed he is highly regarded among his peers, many being household names. There are always vegetarian options, plus vegans or those with special dietary requirements can be catered for.

Who is Gareth Johns?

The celebrated chef and his association with The Wynnstay Hotel go back 25 years, but in this – chef’s first book – the reader can find out about Gareth’s early years, his childhood, love of his country, training, career, TV work, passion for local ingredients/produce, awards and associations. Essentially, you will discover what makes this advocate of Welsh food and drink ‘tick’. It’s an opportunity to take home a little part of Machynlleth with you. Recipes

The Wynnstay Hotel in Machynlleth, Wales, has welcomed travellers for centuries. The traditional coaching inn was originally called The Unicorn and was rebuilt in the 18th century for the Williams-Wynne family. In addition to its superb high-quality food and drink, the restaurant has open fires and log stoves. The hotel also offers a wide variety of activities and has become home to an annual comedy festival, among other fantastic calendared events.
